Rafa Benitez names the two Liverpool signings who ‘changed’ Steven Gerrard
Former Liverpool manager Rafa Benitez has explained how the signings of Fernando Torres and Javier Mascherano in 2007 ‘changed’ Steven Gerrard’s role in the team.
Torres signed for the Reds from Atletico Madrid in July 2007, months after the club signed Mascherano on loan from West Ham, a move that was eventually made permanent. It was the midfield partnership of Xabi Alonso and Mascherano that allowed Gerrard to play further up the field and form a formidable partnership with Torres.
In the 2007/08 season the pair scored a combined 54 goals, while the former Liverpool captain registered an impressive 19 assists in all competitions. The following campaign wasn’t quite as ruthless, but Gerrard still scored 24 goals with 13 assists.
Benitez, who was in charge of Liverpool at the time, says the signing of Torres and balance in midfield allowed Gerrard to move into a more attacking role.สล็อตแตกหนัก

Liverpool ‘spoiled’ by £49m signing as Darwin Nunez ‘pressure’ claim made
Steve McManaman has explained why there will not be any pressure on Darwin Nunez to be an instant success at Liverpool.Liverpool transfer news
The Reds signed the 23-year-old from Benfica last month after agreeing a deal worth up to £85m, which would be a club record. Nunez will wear the No.27 shirt at Anfield, which has been vacated by the departure of Divock Origi, who recently signed for AC Milan.
Nunez’s arrival added further quality to Jurgen Klopp’s forward ranks, despite the departure of Sadio Mane, to Bayern Munich, along with Origi and Takumi Minamino, who has joined Monaco. Diogo Jota, Roberto Firmino, Mohamed Salah and Luis Diaz, who signed in a £49m deal from Porto in January, will all be vying for regular starting spots alongside Nunez.
And it’s the competition for places up front that makes former Liverpool winger McManaman think the new boy will not be under pressure to start life well at Anfield. สล็อตเว็บตรง

Luis Suarez rejects transfer as Liverpool comments offer hint over next move
Former Liverpool striker Luis Suarez has opened the door to his next move after confirming he won’t be signing for River Plate.
The ex-Reds forward is now a free agent after being released by Atletico Madrid. He scored 34 goals in two seasons in the Spanish capital and helped the club win La Liga in 2021.
Suarez being on the market has seen him heavily linked with a return to South America – with Argentinian club River Plate targeting his signature. However, the 35-year-old has now revealed that he will not be making that move, with his intention still to remain in Europe.
